Exam Content:

All questions have been derived from the reference materials and presentations distributed to students throughout the Diploma course.
While questions for each online exam will be selected randomly and may appear in any order, the five general question categories are as follows:

  1. Capital Markets and Investors
  2. Valuations
  3. Market Regulation
  4. Investor Relations
  5. Case Studies
Pass Mark:

70% (Candidates will be notified immediately on completing the exam of their result.)

Fee:

The examination fee is included in the Diploma of Investor Relations registration fee.  This includes an allowance for up to one re-sit should a student need require it. 

Exam Eligibility Criteria:

Only students who have completed the full three-day Diploma of Investor Relations course are eligible to sit this examination.

Students have 12 months from the date they attend the course to sit the online exam.
Outside of that time, students are required to undertake the full three-day course again at their own cost.

Post-Nominals:

On being awarded the AIRA Diploma of Investor Relations, a student is able to use the post-nominals DipInvRel.

Exam Supervisor:

Please note that a supervisor is compulsory when sitting the exam.  For further information about the supervisor click on the Supervisor's Guide link.

If your nominated supervisor becomes unavailable, you must reschedule the exam to a date when you can be supervised.  Students are welcome to come into the AIRA office to be supervised or organise to be supervised via zoom, given the current COVID environment.  To arrange this, please contact the AIRA Secretariat by email [email protected]

The online exam can be completed at any time between 9am and 5pm on the scheduled exam date.

Exam re-sit:

In the case where a candidate does not achieve the 70% pass mark, there is one exam re-sit allowed.
Students who require a re-sit, can do so by re-enrolling through the AIRA website.

Where to sit the exam:

Students are able to choose a location of their choice to sit the online exam. The only prerequisites are as follows:

  • The computer must have both JavaScript and Java enabled on the browser; and
  • A nominated supervisor must be approved by AIRA. (To see the eligibility criteria and the role of the supervisor's please refer to the Supervisor's Guide above)
The process to follow:

Go to examination dates and enrollment information and select the exam date you wish to sit.  Please note, to confirm this enrollment you will need to proceed to checkout and click submit.
Enrollments must be received 10 days in advance of the exam.  At the time of enrolling to sit the exam you will receive a confirmation order that includes the examination link.  Please note, this link will only work on the day of your scheduled exam.

One week prior to the assessment date, AIRA will distribute a "Supervisor's Kit" to all approved supervisors. This kit contains information about:

  • how to access the exam;
  • the role of the supervisor;
  • the terms and conditions in which the exam must be conducted; and
  • materials that candidates are permitted to have access to while completing the exam.

Should a nominated supervisor not meet the criteria as set out in the Guide, the student will be requested to nominate an alternate.
